They can peel off up to 15 layers of different types of paint, stain, and varnish in one go. They are made from natural citrus ingredients and do not have any methylene chloride.

Smart Strip™ is a safe and eco-friendly paint remover that works on any surface. It is a water-based and biodegradable paste that can strip off multiple layers of paint from wood, brick, metal, concrete, stone, plaster, fiberglass, and more.

It does not have any methylene chloride, caustics, or toxic chemicals. It has no odor and does not harm the environment. Smart Strip™ paint stripper can remove lead based paint and marine paints without damaging the surface. It can also handle intricate, carved or molded surfaces. You can apply it easily with a brush, roller or airless sprayer.

It stays wet and effective for a long time and does not need Peel Away® Paint Removing Paper. But you can use Peel Away® Paint Removing Paper to speed up the removal and increase the dwell time.

This product is great for removing wood stain. I followed the instructions and it worked fast. It was easy to clean with water and vinegar, but I wore gloves because it was messy. I also used a scotch-brite pad to scrub off the stain, because scraping was not enough.

I liked this product and I used it with Dumond Chemicals, Inc. Smart Strip Advanced Paint Remover to make it more effective. For paint, I might need something stronger, especially for oil paint.

It worked fine for one layer of latex or acrylic paint or varnish, but not for mixed paints. I will try again with more product and update my review later. But for wood stain, it was perfect and Smart Strip helped a lot.

I love this product. I bought the #1 Deck Wood Stain Stripper along with the #1 Deck Wood Brightener and the #1 Deck Premium Semi-Transparent Stain.

I followed the directions and sprayed the Stripper on our deck with a 1gal pump sprayer. I had to use less than I wanted, because I didn’t order enough for our big deck – I should have gotten 2 of these, but it was fine. I used a pressure washer to wash off the old stain, and it came off easily in a stringy mess.

The old stain was gone and the wood was clean. The Stripper worked better on flat surfaces where it could soak in more, than on the railings and posts, but that was normal with the amount I used.

5. Restore-A-Deck

Restore-A-Deck

Restore-A-Deck Wood Stain Stripper is an eco-friendly, powdered product that easily strips off old finishes and cleans wood surfaces. It gets rid of stains, varnishes, dirt, mold, mildew, and mill glaze.

The Restore A Deck system has three steps to clean your deck, and you should use all three products for the best results. This product is the first step, the Stripper, and you can use it instead of or after the Restore-A-Deck Wood Cleaner.

You need to use a wood brightener to neutralize the Restore-A-Deck Deck Stain Stripper.
